This is my first painting after a thirty-one year hiatus. A photo of a wintery back yard in Chelmsford inspired Sandy Pond. I did an underpainting for a seasonal Fall or Winter scene and then decided I wanted a bright, cheerful Spring or Summer composition. When I added the leaves to the trees, the composition fell apart. Five major changes were painted before Sandy Pond appeared. |
